Cured by Compassion. Going Vegan Made Me Well
Kate Dunbar is a UK-based vegan runner and environmental advocate whose journey embodies resilience and compassion. Once struggling with psoriatic arthritis, she transformed her health by adopting a whole-food, plant-based diet, regaining mobility and strength to complete multiple marathons. Her story highlights the power of veganism not only for personal well-being but also for animal rights and sustainability. Through running, Kate connects deeply with nature and uses her platform to inspire others to embrace ethical living, challenge stereotypes about vegan athletes, and pursue healthier, more sustainable lifestyles. She continues to motivate communities with her activism and athletic achievements.
Kate is Patient Advocate and graphic designer for Plant-Based Health Professionals UK, ceramicist, veganic gardener and foodie. Kate is also one of the collective hosts for the Vegan and Animal Rights podcast; Enough of the Falafel.

The Practice of Loving Kindness - Veganism, Buddhism and Animal Activism
Michelle Thomas explores how Buddhist practices, such as metta - the practice of loving kindness and mindfulness, can help vegans overcome negative emotions and help to sustain them in their advocacy work. This talk is for everyone, you don’t need to be Buddhist! Drawing on her yoga teaching, Michelle will include some simple breath work, posture, and energy techniques, that can be used whenever we find ourselves in those difficult conversations, challenged during our animal advocacy, or if we simply need to bring a few moments of peace and calm to our life.
