The Hidden Suffering of Pigeons: How to Recognise and Rescue Pigeons in Distress, and Advocate for Their Rights

Often misunderstood and overlooked, pigeons can suffer in silence in our shared environments. This presentation will give you the knowledge and confidence to recognise when a pigeon is in distress and how to safely step in.

You'll learn how to assess rescue situations—from birds trapped behind netting or inside buildings to those suffering from stringfoot and other injuries. Practical guidance will help you respond effectively and with compassion.

We’ll also examine how the harmful “pest” narrative discourages rescue efforts, and explore how you can advocate for pigeons and shift public perception in their favour.

With Sam from Advocacy for Pigeons

Lomens

Lomens are a 5-piece alternative rock band from West Yorkshire, channeling the swing between light and dark into a sound that’s explosive, gritty, and emotionally raw. Their music swings like a pendulum, heavy yet melodic, high-energy yet introspective, blending soaring hooks, spacey textures, and lyrics that dive deep beneath the surface.

Their first three singles Twisted Alive, The Art of Acceptance, and Pieces (Of Me) are all out now and available on all major streaming platforms. These songs are a powerful reflection on personal struggles and harsh self-truths, pairing emotional depth with sonic uplift—a contrast that defines the band’s identity.
Lomens is a band brimming with raw honesty, big energy, and hard-hitting lyrics!

🔘5pm
Rock Paper Sister

Rock Paper Sister is a high energy original 4-piece female fronted rock band based in West
Yorkshire. Our influences are by Guano Apes, RHCP, Skunk Anansie and many more. Huge
rockin' riffs, creative bass lines, flamboyant drums and melodic vocals - that's all us! In 2022 we have recorded our newest album called “Home” of which we are very proud of, and the video to the headlining track is below: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rx4VUu8gW44 Full album can be found here:
We are working on new songs for our next album, these are getting included in the gigs’ setlists, and planning to enter the studio soon.

Rock Paper Sister was born in the UK in 2017 of Polish musicians. Over the years, the people
have been coming and going, and the current set up consists of musicians in the persons of Jerry, Jamie, Jon and Hanna. The band has played few dozens of gigs all across the UK and Poland, promoting and supporting well known Polish stars (Myzlovitz, Akurat, Lzy, Bright Ophedia, Cochese), but also took part in many local festivals (Longest Day Festival, Bands on the Square, Nailed It, SpringFest) as well as played in music clubs, to which we are invited again and again for our great stage performance. We were also one of the several finalists of the Soundwaves competition in 2023, chosen from over a thousand acts from across the UK, with the final gig taking place in O2 Birmingham. We also accepted the invitation to be part of the M2TM Manchester heat in 2025! But, of course, we are always looking for more gigs to fill even more our already busy calendar!

You can get in touch with us via email: bandrockpapersister@gmail.com or
phone Jerry on 07706644663 or Hanna on 07707258240.
