12pm - Increasing Your Child’s Health Span

Why nurturing healthy habits matter, and how to make them work for you and your child

Mathew French is an author and educator and ex wildlife ranger. He has written teaching materials for Cambridge University Press, National Geographic and UTPL (University of Loja, Ecuador). While working for UTPL in the department of tropical medicine, he had the opportunity to learn about the cultures, nutrition and medicines of Indigenous tribes, and gained insights into how the global health and food industries operate. He is a father of five and is deeply interested in the wellbeing of all children.

1pm - The Hidden Suffering of Pigeons: How to Recognise and Rescue Pigeons in Distress, and Advocate for Their Rights

Often misunderstood and overlooked, pigeons can suffer in silence in our shared environments. This presentation will give you the knowledge and confidence to recognise when a pigeon is in distress and how to safely step in.

You'll learn how to assess rescue situations—from birds trapped behind netting or inside buildings to those suffering from stringfoot and other injuries. Practical guidance will help you respond effectively and with compassion.

We’ll also examine how the harmful “pest” narrative discourages rescue efforts, and explore how you can advocate for pigeons and shift public perception in their favour.

With Sam from Advocacy for Pigeons

2pm - Mind Matters

Healthy Gut thriving happy mind.  What you need to know about ageing health, with top tips on thriving into old age as a vegan.

Did you know your brain can continue to build new neural pathways no matter how old you are.  Use it or loose it applies to not only your bone density, your muscles but also your brain. Join me to learn more.
