12pm: Yoga as Alchemy with Kirsty Jackson

Seeing life more clearly- yoga techniques to connect with your inner strength to support your heart’s purpose & direct your actions in life.

Yoga equips us for life. It teaches us about ourselves and provides us with transformational tools that we can take off the mat and apply to daily life creating a more delicious and juicy co- creative flow with life.

Yoga offers numerous benefits, it strengthens our bodies & mind, limbers our body, energises us, increases our stamina & flexibility & calms our mind. One of its greatest gifts however is more subtle & profound- it assists us in understanding life more clearly. When we practice with intention & awareness we begin to attend to details in our bodies & lives that we previously overlooked or misunderstood. When we are aware we have a choice. When we see the reality of a situation within & around us we are much better able to make better decisions & respond more appropriately to the needs of the moment. To follow through with our intentions, we draw on our inner strength to support our heart’s purpose & direct our actions.

In this short class we will use traditional yoga poses sequenced with the breath to get more deeply connected to ourselves & we will conclude with a short guided relaxation.

All levels are welcome. Kirsty teaches postures in stages so everyone can work at a level that suits them as an individual. She offers modifications & progressions so you can choose the right challenges for you. The main thing is to enjoy the class and have fun. The only requirement in yoga is to simply show up with a willingness & curiosity to explore & uncover its many gifts. Yoga will meet you wherever you are.

Kirsty has a deep passion & enthusiasm for yoga, having experienced such richness in her life from its application to everyday life. She aims to make yoga fun, accessible & enriching for all of her students offering skills that can be applied to daily life.

Kirsty is a dedicated yoga practitioner & teacher. She teaches weekly classes, workshops private one to ones & small groups (in person & over the internet). She writes for http://evenmoreaboutyoga.com/

2pm: How to thrive on a Plant Based Diet

The idea of not eating meat is nothing new – Pythagoras was an early advocate of a plant-based diet – but so many of us were brought up to believe that the maintenance of health and fitness can only be achieved on a diet based around animal protein. Many omnivores believe that it is impossible to remain healthy on a diet of only plants! We now have incontrovertible evidence that this is entirely incorrect – indeed it is becoming clear that the healthiest of diets is a Whole Food Plant Based Diet. This means a diet based 100% on plants – and they should be consumedin a form that is as close as possible to how they were grown and harvested. It should include little, if any processed or refined products – for example, no added sugar or oil. In this talk, I will outline some of the evidence for this.
